Topic 1 The Scientific Method Visit the course "Content" area, then click on the" Course Resources", then "Science Learning Center" and finally click on "The Scientific Method Tutorial".  After you have read through the tutorial, work on the following exercise: Describe an example of how you use the scientific method in your daily life. IMPORTANT: This is not to be a trivial circumstance. Choose a circumstance for which you can cite EACH and EVERY necessary step in the Scientific Method. Which observation(s) lead you to use the scientific method?  I. Formulate an OBSERVATION/QUESTION, and then an HYPOTHESIS (Keep in mind the necessary format and components that make up an appropriate hypothesis).  II. Design an EXPERIMENT to test your hypothesis --make sure to indicate the *control, *dependent and *independent variables, etc. III. Describe predicted RESULTS.  IMPORTANT:  Be sure to follow ALL STEPS of the Scientific Method. (The reading for this week in our textbook will also help you in this exercise). Your main response should be a minimum of 150 words (more is OK). You must also post a minimum of one significant reply to classmate's post that contribute to their learning. The reply should be a minimum of 100 words. In your peer reply please provide constructive feedback, observations, additional information. IMPORTANT: You will not get credit for trivial responses and you will not get credit for simply asking a question or restating what your peer has already noted. We are looking for SUBSTANTIVE feedback, which will expand and enhance the discussion. For example: You can describe how your peer's experimental design might be improved?
